The wonders of lavender

Our nature is filled with healing powers and the beautiful flower lavender is no exception. Read more about how you can use it in your every day life.

Fight dandruff
Got an itchy and flaky scalp? Massaging your head with a few drops of lavender oil can do wonders. Simply follow these steps: Take a nice and hot shower and towel dry your hair. Next, grab a mug and mix 15 drops of lavender essential oil (more about essential oils here) in 2 tablespoons olive or coconut oil. Microwave or heat up on the stove for about 10 seconds or until it feels warm. Massage the oil into your scalp, put on a shower cap, let set for an hour, then shampoo out. Give it a few times and you’ll have a happy, flaky and itchy free scalp.

Helps you relax
Research shows the scent lowers heart rate and blood pressure, putting you in a relaxed state. Have an easy-at-hand lavender spray bottle on your night stand and spray on your pillow and around your bedroom before going to bed. This will help you relax and fall asleep much easier.

Pain relief
Have you sprained your ankle or have a headache? Drop a few drops of lavender oil on a compress and put around the area that hurts. It actually works!

Soothes sensitive skin
Use it as a relief for muscle or joint pain, as well as for skin conditions like burns, acne and wounds.

Keeps moths away
Moths are sneaky and you might not even be aware they are there until you find holes in all your precious wool and silk garments. You can avoid this by placing a little cotton bag filled with dried lavender in your wardrobe or drawers. Alternatively you could add 10-15 drops of lavender oil mixed with water into a spray bottle and spray at their likely entry sources.
