Regardless of gender, social status or even religion, we all have something in common: we all strive for happiness. But what does this really mean?
Scientists define happiness as the positive range of emotions that we feel when we are content or full of joy. There are many ways to become happy that are backed up by science: like exercising every day or sleep more. However, we are of the opinion that happiness is individual. What makes me happy doesn’t necessarily make you happy.
It may seem like a simple thing; to know what makes you happy, but that’s not always the case. I therefore started writing down what makes me happy and quickly found out that it is the small stuff that matter the most. Like the joy I feel when I eat my favorite ice cream or see a cute dog running around in the park. The warm feeling I get when I see people hugging at the airport or the smell of fresh flowers and the beauty of seeing someone smile.
There is no secret that many of us focus more on what makes us unhappy rather then the other way around. At least we talk more about it. I therefore want you to consider and come up with three things that make YOU happy. What is happiness to you?
