Many people are sceptical of superfood, and often just hearing somebody talking about it makes them automatically snort. Maybe you’re one of them? You know what, been there done that! We all have to start somewhere. We wanted to share with you what made us try superfood in the first place and why we haven’t stopped.
For me it all began 1,5 year ago. I was in Oslo, interviewing two very inspiring ladies who had just opened a store selling superfood. After hearing them talk about the amazing effects I of course had to buy some and try. And I was hooked. If I have to choose just one favorite it has to be Amla. This Indian berry contains natural vitamin C, which helps the immune system to function normally. When I am feeling a bit under the weather I just take a few of these and they seriously work wonders.
Blueberries are my absolute favorite superfood as they are packed with antioxidants, contain 24 % of the suggested daily intake of vitamin C, but also because they taste so damn good;) I love the fact that you literally can go hiking and pick them yourself for free?! (very convenient when living in Sweden due to “Allemansrätten” – the right for everyone to explore and enjoy nature). If you don´t want to eat them all at once you can always put them in the freezer and use them in your smoothie/yogurt for a later occasion. One last mind blowing fact, did you know that blueberries can lower the risk of cancer. Half-cup a day is more than enough to boost your immune-system!
Coconut oil truly is my favorite superfood. This amazing nut oil can be used in so many ways and do miracles, both externally and internally. There are so many health benefits and I could go on and on talking about them, but here are a few.
It’s anti-viral, anti-bacterial and anti-inflammatory. It literally fights infections! Use it as make-up remover, hair mask, body lotion or even as mouthwash. It is also an essential friend in the kitchen and will give a lovely taste to fried food and smoothies – So if you haven’t tried this queen of oils, please do! It is amazing!
