Mornings aren’t many peoples favorite part of the day and usually we run through our routines like robots. But what we do in the early morning hours actually sets the tone for the rest of the day. So why not enjoy it? We give you six tips on how to start your day right.
Nothing is more painful than being ripped out of a good nights sleep by the sound of an alarm. We therefore recommend you to go to sleep with your curtains halfway open. That way the natural light will send a signal to your brain to slow it’s production of melatonin and tell you that it’s daytime and slowly wake you up.
Drink a glass of water before doing anything else. After a long night of sleep the body is dehydrated and needs refilling. It also fires up your metabolism and helps your body flush out toxins. Adding lemon to it also works wonders. Read more about that here.
Bend and stretch
After a long sleep you often have stiff, tight muscles, caused by lying in the same position for a longer period. Take a minute to bend and stretch, so that you increase flexibility and range of motion in the muscles, and improve circulation and relieve tension.
Fuel your body
Not everyone likes to eat breakfast, and there is no right or wrong here. Our tip is that you follow the signals your body sends you. Are you hungry then eat, if you’re not hungry then maybe try to drink a smoothie or juice instead so that you get some energy to embrace the day. Nothing is better than starting the day off feeling happy. So take a few minutes to do something that feels good; drink a cup of coffee, read the morning paper or listen to your favorite song. Whatever makes you happy.
If possible, walk to work. If not, get of the buss a stop before you usually get off and walk the rest of the way. Nothing is better that some fresh air to clear the mind.
And lastly, have positive intentions for the day and aim to be the reason someone smiles!
